Transfer of Credits

Empire State College recognizes the value of community college programs and will work with you to transfer your community college credits into your four-year program. We have articulation agreements in almost all areas of study.

Study Options

You can study in many convenient ways, either at a distance or with a faculty mentor at your local center or unit.

Study at a distance.

If you want to work entirely through distance learning, you can enroll through our Center for Distance Learning. In this mode you can take distance courses and independent study through both printed materials and online seminars. For more information about studying at a distance, please contact our transfer counselor at CDL@esc.edu.

Work with a mentor in your area.

Empire State College has locations in Syracuse, Utica, Auburn, Binghamton, Ithaca and Watertown, where you can work with a faculty mentor, generally meeting 3-4 times a term. If you enroll through an Empire State College location, your studies can be a mix of independent learning contracts, study groups, cross-registration in nearby colleges, and distance learning.

For more information about studying at one of our locations in the Syracuse area, please contact Amy Tweedy (315 472-5768; Amy.Tweedy@esc.edu). If you want to attend a group orientation session to learn more about the College, please come to one of our regularly scheduled information sessions.
