The Challenge

The instructor wanted to illustrate the concept of program development as a dynamic, ongoing process.

The developer also wanted to demonstrate that the process typically operates in a non-linear fashion.

The Solution

The metaphor of the pinball machine provided a very good illustration of the process.

Students can watch as the project begins with the ball hitting all the elements in succession. The ball then reacts to management sending the ball back to a process element, which in turn sends the ball to another element based upon the feedback.
