The conference will gather scholars (representing such fields as biology, education, economics, geology, history, literary studies, philosophy and psychology), artists, natural resource managers, environmental activists, farmers, foresters, rural dwellers and city dwellers, government officials, and recreational wilderness users. We will include participants from across the United States, Canada and Mexico; international participants from other parts of the world are welcome.

This will be the first time the conference will meet in the Northeast. It was previously held in the Southwest at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, and University of Nevada, Reno.

The conference will feature nationally renowned speakers, roundtable discussions, workshops, readings and traditional paper panels on a broad variety of topics and themes. A call for papers will be announced in fall 2003.
