Empire State College students may, in consultation with their primary mentors, enroll for a learning contract that includes, as a substantive learning activity, participation in the Conference on Environment and Community.
Such enrollment can take one of two forms:
- First, students may use the learning contract included below with Dr. Dora Ingolfsdottir (Northeast Center) as the tutor for the contract.
- Second, they may, again in consultation with their mentors, create a different learning contract that explicitly requires them to attend and participate in the conference as a substantive learning activity integrated into the structure of that contract.
Empire State College students who are officially enrolled for such contracts and who meet the requirements detailed below may receive a waiver of the conference registration fee (but not of the hotel and/or meal charges if they are staying at the Holiday Inn).
To be granted a waiver of the registration fee, students must:
- Enroll in the appropriate learning contract. (Official enrollment means that the enrollment is entered into the college’s registration system and can be verified there.)
- The learning contract/enrollment must have an official begin date on or before the conference dates.
- The student must provide a copy of the official learning contract to the conference organizers (Wayne Ouderkirk and Elaine Handley) by February 12, 2004.
- Learning contracts received after that date will not be honored for the waiver. We will NOT ACCEPT walk-ins, that is, students who arrive at the conference seeking the waiver who have not met these requirements.
