Statistical Reasoning: A Social Sciences Tutorial

This tutorial demonstrates techniques you can use when reading (and analyzing) research in the social sciences.

Many students have trouble applying statistical techniques outside of the structured context found in a statistics course. In this tutorial we will show you how you can use Microsoft Excel to analyze research data (from a source on the Internet). You can use these techniques when considering data from Internet or research sources.

This tutorial is based on a case study from the Rice University Virtual Lab In Statistics website. You will review the case study to see how the analysis was done. Then we will show you how to recreate the analysis using Excel.
