Case Studies on the Internet

Math Tutorials Home > Statistics Social Sciences

In this tutorial we will look at a case study published on the Rice Virtual Lab in Statistics website (opens in a new window).

For each case study you will find (in separate documents):
  • Background
  • Experimental Design
  • Materials
  • Descriptive Statistics
  • Inferential Statistics
  • Raw Data

In most cases the Descriptive Statistics and Inferential Statistics pages (on the RVLS website) are based on the use of SPSS -a commonly used statistical analysis software package. Since you might not have SPSS, we will provide the information you need to recreate the analysis using the raw data and a spreadsheet.

Doing the analysis yourself will provide a deeper level of understanding than just reading about the analysis.
