Students Plan Volunteer Trip to Staten Island
Lori Mould, Student Affairs Committee co-chair, is planning a volunteer opportunity for students Oct. 21-24, following the Student Academic Conference. Mould contacted the Episcopal Diocese of New York Disaster Response group and made arrangements for students to participate in a volunteer opportunity for Sandy Relief. She reports that volunteers will be needed in the area for the next three years. While many victims of the storm were covered by insurance, there were thousands affected who did not have adequate insurance. While those with construction skills are particularly welcome, students do not need any particular skills to participate in this opportunity. A van will leave from the Marriott LaGuardia Airport Hotel following the conference on Sunday, Oct. 20. Students have overnight accommodations for up to three nights.
