  • (2/8/12) The Student Connectiona student-run newsletter, has launched its 32nd issue. For more information or to get involved, contact the editor at Student.Editor@esc.edu.
  • (2/2/12) The Financial Aid Orientation materials for 2012-2013 have been released. We recommend that all current and new students review the presentations to ensure understanding and maximum financial aid eligibility
  • (1/24/12) Registration for the March 2012 term opens today at 9:00 a.m. E.S.T. and closes Friday March 2 at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T
  • (1/20/12) Add/drop period for the January term closes today at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. After that time, withdrawals are processed through the Office of the Registrar. Withdrawal forms and instructions are found at www.esc.edu/withdraw.
  • (1/18/12) The Office of Collegewide Student Services is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Student Art Competition will be kicking off on February 1st. We are encouraging students to start thinking about what they would like to submit to this year’s competition, students can submit any type/medium of art. Please limit your submissions to one per student. If you have any questions contact Danielle Benedict at (518) 587-2100 extension 2255. Keep checking back for further details.
  • (1/17/12) January '12 term starts today.
  • (1/17/12) Add/drop period for the January term opens Tuesday January 17 at 9:00 a.m.and closes Friday, January 20 at 5:00 p.m. EST. After that time, withdrawals are processed through the Office of the Registrar. Withdrawal forms and instructions are found at www.esc.edu/withdraw.
  • (1/11/12) All January term registrations that are not paid for will be cancelled on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 8 a.m. E.S.T. Please review your account summary now and make sure that you do not have an outstanding balance. Acceptable payment arrangements are approved financial aid (as shown on your account summary) and the Time Payment Plan.
  • (1/9/12) Late registration for the January term opens today at 9:00 a.m. E.S.T. and will close on Friday Jan. 13 at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. If you register during the late registration period, your registration must be paid for immediately or your enrollment will not be finalized and your classes will be cancelled. If you sign up for the time payment plan, the first 1/3 payment installment must be made at the time of enrollment.
  • (1/6/12) Registration closes for the January term today at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. Payment is also due by that time. You must have payment or payment arrangements in full in place (as shown on your account summary) to avoid cancellation of your enrollment. Students who registered or changed their registration since December 29 will not receive a paper bill.
  • (1/3/2012) Registration closes for the January term on Friday January 6 at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. Payment is due by that time. Registrations not paid for by this date will be cancelled. If you are on the Time Payment Plan, your first 1/3 payment is due by January 6.
  • (12/13/11) Due to increased volume and funding constraints, the Office of Administration is suspending advance refunds of excess financial aid, commonly referred to as foundation loans, as of 4:00 p.m. E.S.T. on Dec. 9, 2011.  While students may still apply for an advance refund, approved applications received after 4:00 p.m. E.S.T. Dec. 9, 2011 will not have a check issued until the week of Jan. 3, 2012.
  • (10/31/11) The structure and amount of some fees at Empire State College have changed. Please visit www.esc.edu/fees for complete information.
  • (10/31/11) November 2011 term starts today.
  • (10/6/11) The college's Annual Safety and Security Report and Procedures is available on the Safety and Security web site (http://www.esc.edu/safetyandsecurity).
  • (9/19/11) Beginning with the November 2011 Term, there will be no narrative evaluations provided upon completion of courses at Empire State College. For the answers to commonly asked student questions, and other important information about outcomes, please visit http://www.esc.edu/undergraduategrading.
  • (8/26/11) Beginning in mid-August, updates are coming to the college website. Find out what they mean for you.
  • (7/29/11) Tuition rates have changed effective with the fall term, according to the SUNY Board of Trustees, and pending final legislation.  For more information visit the notice to students about tuition rates and www.esc.edu/tuition.
  • (4/19/11) To help students with the cost of their course materials, the Empire State College Bookstore has started a student book swap program that will allow students to easily buy, sell or swap their books with other Empire State College students with no fees. See the "Student Book Swap" page on the Bookstore site for details.
  • (3/17/11) Important notice about the Smarthinking online tutoring service:
    Empire State College has a contract for tutoring services through Smarthinking.com. Note that this is Smarthinking with only one "T". An unofficial site has been launched (www.smartthinking.com -- notice the two "T"'s) which prompts individuals to enter their credit card information. Students should ONLY utilize the Smarthinking.com site, or go through the college's Smarthinking portal at www.esc.edu/smarthinking. See the full announcement for details.
  • (3/31/09) Beware of Financial Aid Scams:

    This is a reminder that if you receive correspondence from an outside agency asking for significant personal information and a processing fee for financial aid it is most likely a scam. We highly encourage you to NOT respond to this type of request, as you could lose the fee and jeopardize your personally identifiable information.
