Borrowers are not charged for using Interlibrary Loan. The costs are covered by Empire State College. Expansion of service will be reviewed at the end of the pilot. If you are not eligible to use Interlibrary Loan right now, please review these alternatives.

4. Steps to Submit a Request
First-time Users of this service:
- First, take a moment to make sure the item you want is not already immediately available in the Empire State College online collection. Use Full-text Journal Finder to check article citations and the E-Book Catalog to check books. If you are unsure, Ask a Librarian to check for you.
- Click on the "Register for an ILL Account" link in the gray-shaded box in the upper right.
- Type in the full citation information for the item(s) you want in the web form provided. Providing a full citation (title, author, journal/publisher, year, page numbers) will ensure your request is processed as quickly as possible.
- Submit the form.
- Watch for a notification e-mail letting you know the status of your request.
Returning Users:
- Follow step 1 above
- Click on the "Log In to Submit a Request" link in the upper right of this page
- Proceed to step 3 as above.
4. Steps to Renew a Request- Click on the "Log in to Submit a Request" link in the upper right of this page. Log in with your ILLiad username and password.
- In the left column of the page, click the "Checked Out Items" button.
- Select the item that you wish to renew by clicking the appropriate Transaction Number button to the left of the item's title. You will then see detailed information about this item.
- Check at the bottom of the page to see if renewals are allowed.
- If renewals are allowed, press the "Request Renewal" button at the top right corner of the screen.
- Renewals are not allowed after the initial due date or for recalled items, and for some items, they are not allowed at all. If renewals are not allowed, please return the item as soon as possible. If you need a new return envelope, please contact ill@esc.edu and tell them the item that you need the new envelope for.
