PERFORMING ARTS IN NEW YORK CITY
A focus in performing arts offers opportunities in single-genre and
interdisciplinary studio and academic studies in theater, dance
and music.
Studies include:
Theater improvisation, theater history, laboratory in arts and civic engagement, theater for development, playbuilding, theater education, making dance, dance history, dancing autobiography, writing on art, dance and performance, NYC art and performance, music theory and jazz history.
Study at associated institutions: Dance Education Laboratory, 92nd Street Y, and private studios offering professional-level classes, internships at arts or community-based organizations (Elders Share the Arts, Movement Research, Gay Men’s Health Crisis).
Participate in special projects such as the Winter/Summer Institute in Theatre for Development where students travel abroad for a three-week residency.
