Empire State College is authorized under federal law to admit Canadian citizens that are border commuter students.
Empire State College serves Canadian citizens who wish to study with one of our center-based programs as border commuter students. Please see the following for admissions procedures for Canadian border commuter students: Border Commuter Students.
Empire State College no longer issues I-20s to students who require an F-1 student visa to come to the US. If you wish to live in the US to study, please see other State University of New York options at www.suny.edu.
If you would like to earn a degree with Empire State College from wherever you live in the world, you can do so entirely online through our International Distance Learning program. Please see www.esc.edu/IDL for more information.
Please contact the International Student Liaison if you have visa questions.
For more information on the various types of non-immigrant visas that are available, please visit the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) web site.
