U. S. WOMEN'S MULTICULTURAL LIFE-WRITINGS (CUL-224014)
Course Description: Investigate personal narratives, memoirs and autobiographies by U.S. women selected for their literary excellence in describing their participation in more than one culture within the U.S. Writers include Marita Golden, Eva Hoffman, Aurora Levins Morales and Rosario Morales, Shirley Geok-Lin Lim and Julia Alvarez, among others. Discuss how narrative is used to construct meaning, identity and culture. Prerequisite: analytical thinking and writing skills at the upper-division undergraduate level, evidenced in successful completion of prior advanced-level work. This course fully meets the General Education requirement in Humanities. This online course is offered through the Center for Distance Learning.
